Food and symptom diary
Know what your gut is telling you
Snap your meals, log how you feel, and find the foods behind your symptoms — without typing out a food diary or handing over your data.
- Logging takes seconds — photo in, ingredients out.
- Patterns measured against your own baseline, not a made-up score.
- Your log stays on your device. You choose if it syncs anywhere at all.
No download. Open a link and start — add it to your home screen if you like it.
How it works
- Snap the meal. The camera is the home screen. AI reads the photo and lists the ingredients, so you are correcting a guess instead of typing a diary entry.
- Say how you feel. One tap for a symptom, a bowel movement, or a check-in — each one timestamped, not dumped into a day bucket.
- Read the ranking. Every food is compared against your own baseline: how often symptoms follow meals with it, versus meals without it. The maths runs on your device.
Manual logging works offline. The AI features need a network connection.
Three things we do differently
-
Fast
Logging takes seconds, not minutes. The apps with real analytical depth make you search and type every single food, and a multi-week protocol lives or dies on whether you keep it up.
-
Honest
We won't call a food a trigger until the data earns it. A food needs repeated exposures, a high enough follow rate, a clear lift over your baseline, and enough comparison meals before it is flagged at all. Confidence is shown, not hidden.
-
Non-intrusive
Your data, your device, your choice. No profile, no quiz — just an email. Your log lives on your device, and you decide whether it syncs anywhere.
Nothing to install — it's just a link
- Try it in seconds. Open a URL. No download, no app store account, no hundred-megabyte install.
- Runs anywhere from one URL — iOS, Android, desktop.
- Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app — full screen, its own icon, opening straight to the camera.
- It updates itself. No version to chase.
- Fewer strings attached. Nothing installed means no device permissions beyond the camera and no app-store identity.
Native iOS and Android apps are planned, mainly for app-store discovery and for reminders a web app cannot deliver dependably — SnapGut sends none today. When they arrive the web app stays the instant-try path: an extra door, not a replacement. And a web app does sit under tighter platform limits than a native build, with the home-screen step first on iOS.
What we measure, and what we won't say
SnapGut looks for associations: foods that tend to show up in the hours before you feel worse, more often than your own baseline would explain. Symptoms are matched across windows from 30 minutes to 48 hours, because that is the range gut symptoms actually behave over.
A food is only ranked once there is enough of it in your log to say anything — repeated exposures, symptoms following often enough, a clear lift over meals without it, and meals without it to compare against. Below that bar you see the pattern and its confidence, not a verdict.
What that is not: SnapGut is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and it is not an allergy or intolerance test. A pattern in your log is a place to look, and a conversation to have with a clinician — not proof that one food caused one symptom.
There is no opaque 0–100 gut score here. You can see the numbers a ranking came from, and export the log behind it whenever you like.
Your data, your device
No profile, no quiz, no cloud by default. We ask for an email so that you have an account, and that is the whole of it — no name, age, weight, or onboarding questionnaire.
Your log lives in your browser's own storage on your device. Meal photos are sent only to identify the meal, and we don't keep them. AI insights are built from a summary of your log rather than the raw entries.
You choose where it syncs
- Local only. The default. Your log stays put; the only thing sent anywhere is a photo being identified.
- A Google Sheet you own. Your log, mirrored into your own spreadsheet. Photos are never written to it.
- SnapGut Cloud. Cross-device sync, for when you want your log on your phone and your laptop. It is a Pro feature, it is opt-in, and your device stays the source of truth.
Switch destinations or turn them off at any time. Export everything to CSV or JSON, free, whenever you want — your data is yours, so keep a copy wherever you like.
